The short version
We collect your email and the ceremony details you type in. We use them to generate your script and to track your free-tier quota. We don't store the ceremony content after the script is generated. We don't sell anything to anyone. We'll never email you marketing without your permission.
Who we are
Ceremony Script AI is a service operated by Samuel Stevens, trading from the United Kingdom at ceremonyscript.co.uk. For the purposes of UK GDPR, Samuel Stevens is the data controller.

What we collect
- Your email address. Required so we can enforce the free-tier quota (1 script per month per email) and link any paid upgrade to your account.
- The ceremony details you enter. Couple or family names, ceremony type, vibe, must-includes, length. These are sent to the AI to generate your script and are not stored on our servers after the script is returned to you.
- Generation count and timing. So we can enforce the free-tier quota fairly.
- Payment status.Whether you've paid for Unlimited or Library access. We do not collect or store your card details — Stripe handles all of that directly.
What we don't collect
- Card numbers, bank details, or any payment data — Stripe handles this.
- Your name or address (unless you put it in a ceremony).
- Analytics cookies, advertising IDs, or tracking pixels.
- Anything from your couples or families beyond what you type into the form.
Why we're allowed to use your data (lawful basis)
Under UK GDPR, we rely on contract performance— you've asked us to generate a ceremony script, and we need your email and the ceremony inputs to deliver that service. For paid tiers, the same applies: we need to know your email to confirm your lifetime access.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of trusted third-party processors:
- Google (Gemini API)— your ceremony inputs are sent to Google's AI service to generate the script. Google processes this transiently and does not use it to train its models when accessed via the paid API.
- Stripe — handles all payments. If you buy a paid tier, your card details go to Stripe, not us. See stripe.com/privacy.
- Upstash — stores your email and quota status in a Redis database hosted in the EU (Ireland).
- Vercel — hosts the website and serves the application from secure UK and EU data centres.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone, ever.
How long we keep your data
- Ceremony inputs:not stored after the script is generated. The script itself is only held in your browser session — we don't keep a copy.
- Email and quota record: kept while your account is active. If you ask us to delete it, we will.
- Payment records: kept for 7 years as required by UK tax law (HMRC).
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you (right of access)
- Ask us to correct it (rectification)
- Ask us to delete it (erasure)
- Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
- Object to how we use it
- Complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we handle your data

Cookies
We use only essential cookies needed for the site to function (e.g. remembering your session between page loads). We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party tracking.
Children
This service is intended for celebrants aged 18 or over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
